Throughout his professional career, Richard Marcus has been involved exclusively in the representation of management in all aspects of labor and employment-related law. He has acted as a bargaining representative for many private employers, institutions and employer associations in collective bargaining negotiations involving a wide variety of industries and endeavors, including heavy manufacturing, food processing, broadcasting, commercial office buildings, and research and education.For many years, Richard has been a member of the American Bar Association's Labor Law Section, has helped prepare publications dealing with development of the law under the National Labor Relations Act, and currently is a member of the Section's NLRB Practice and Procedure Before the National Labor Relations Board and Federal Labor Standards Committees. He is also the author of Family and Medical Leave: Policies and Procedures, published by Wiley Law Publications. A recognized speaker, he has appeared regularly on programs sponsored by government agencies, universities and trade associations, including the National Labor Relations Board, the National Academy of Arbitrators, the American Manufacturers Association and the Loyola University Institute of Industrial Relations.Richard is an elected fellow of The College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. His name has appeared in all published issues of Best Lawyers in America, Who's Who Legal and Super Lawyers. He has been awarded recognition for work in his field in ceremonies jointly hosted by the National Labor Relations Board and Loyola University of Chicago. He is the recipient of the Award for Excellence in Pro Bono Service given by the judges of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the Federal Bar Association.
