Marie’s practice focuses on preparation and prosecution of patent applications in the mechanical, electrical, and computer arts. She has vast experience counseling companies of all sizes, from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies, in a variety of different industries to protect their innovations and secure business advantage. Marie works closely with clients to align their strategy regarding innovations with their business goals.
Marie began her career as a patent examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office examining U.S. and international patent applications in the data processing arts. She also worked at a large IP boutique firm in Washington D.C., where she focused on interference proceedings and inter partes reexaminations at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, as well as an IP boutique firm in Portland, Oregon where she focused on the preparation and prosecution of patent applications. She is adept at quickly absorbing and retaining new information and using this skill-set to her clients’ benefit. To the IP portfolios of the companies she works with, Marie brings her in-depth knowledge of the workings of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and extensive experience and understanding of how to move an application through the patenting process.
