David Donovan is a litigator who focuses his practice on a range of complex commercial and regulatory disputes and investigations. He has broad experience representing clients in product liability, securities fraud, insurance, corporate governance, internal investigations, employment, and trademark and copyright licensing and protection matters. Mr. Donovan first joined the firm in 1985 and returned in 2011, after serving six years as general counsel and chief operating officer for the Washington Redskins.
Mr. Donovan has represented a wide variety of clients before state and federal courts and provides ongoing advice concerning legislative and litigation developments related to their business practices.
Mr. Donovan rejoined the firm after holding the positions of general counsel and chief operating officer for the Washington Redskins from 2005 to 2009, respectively. While there, he represented the Redskins and related businesses, and their officers and directors in commercial and regulatory disputes and investigations. During his time with the Redskins, Mr. Donovan was also general counsel to Red Zebra Broadcasting and president of the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation.
