Paul Scott is a life-long resident of DeSoto County, Mississippi. He received his B.A. degree in 1978 and his J.D. degree in 1981 from the University of Mississippi. He began his law practice in 1981 in Hernando, Mississippi. Paul is a skilled trial lawyer who has successfully represented property owners across Mississippi in cases involving acquisitions for road and highway construction, airport expansions, natural gas transmission pipelines, power line construction and other uses. Paul is the only lawyer in Mississippi who is a member of Owner’s Counsel of America, a national association of the leading eminent domain attorneys across the country. He is a frequent speaker at national eminent domain seminars, having made presentations in Miami, Florida, San Francisco and San Diego, California and Scottsdale, Arizona. In addition to his eminent domain practice, Paul is actively engaged in litigation of personal injury and wrongful death cases on behalf of injured victims and the families of wrongful death victims. He is a member of the Mississippi Bar Association, the American Association for Justice and the American Bar Association. He is a life member and Past-President (1999-2000) of the Mississippi Association for Justice. He is a Fellow of the Mississippi Bar Foundation. Paul and his wife, Susan, are active members of Getwell Road United Methodist Church in Southaven, Mississippi. He currently serves on the boards of directors of the DeSoto Arts Council and the DeSoto County Ole Miss Rebel Club.
