Mr. Fisher is a partner in the Charlotte, North Carolina, office of K&L Gates LLP, a 1,900-attorney law firm with 41 offices throughout the United States, Asia and Europe. Along with a partner in the firm’s London office, Mr. Fisher co-leads K&L Gates’ 220-attorney Real Estate Practice Area, maintaining a national and global focus. He is licensed to practice law in both North Carolina and South Carolina and has been a practicing attorney for almost 26 years
Mr. Fisher specializes in the acquisition, sale, development, leasing and financing of commercial real estate in a wide variety of asset classes, encompassing multi-family, suburban and high rise office, retail, industrial, hotel and resort, single-family developments with extensive amenities and affiliated clubs, and complex mixed-use projects. He has assisted clients in the purchase, sale, financing and development of numerous multi-family projects, including urban and suburban mixed-use developments. Mr. Fisher has represented lenders, borrowers and third-party investors in financial restructuring and workout transactions, and he has handled complex note purchase and sale transactions. He has led legal teams responsible for closing numerous multi-state and multi-property real estate deals.
As a LEED Accredited Professional (LEED-AP), a distinction he earned through the Green Building Certification Institute, Mr. Fisher has demonstrated a thorough understanding of green building practices and principles, as well as the LEED Rating System.
Mr. Fisher is a member of the Charlotte Council of ULI, and he spoke as a panel participant for “The Mixed Use Primer,” ULI Spring Council Forum, New Orleans, LA, in May 2004.
Mr. Fisher consistently has been listed in Woodward/White’s The Best Lawyers in America in real estate law in 2003-2012, was named by The Best Lawyers in America as 2012 Charlotte Lawyer of the Year in real estate law, was listed by Chambers USA: America’s Leading Business Lawyers, Real Estate Law, 2007-2011, and has maintained a Martindale Hubbell AV Preeminent Rating for many consecutive years. He is a board member and past board chair of the North Carolina Blumenthal Performing Arts Center, is a board member of the Catawba Lands Conservancy and currently chairs its Land Acquisition Committee, is a board member of the University of North Carolina School of Law Alumni Association and currently chairs its Advancement Committee, and has served in many leadership capacities at his church, Providence United Methodist Church (including serving as chair of the Church Council and as co-chair of a $4.8M capital campaign). Additionally, Mr. Fisher received his B.A. from Clemson University in 1983 (summa cum laude, Phi Kappa Phi) and his J.D. from the University of North Carolina in 1986 (with high honors, Order of the Coif), where he was the Managing Editor of the North Carolina Law Review.
