Taylor L. Freeman is a trial lawyer who focuses on complex commercial litigation including breach of contract, energy, tort, intellectual property and construction.
A partner at AZA, he formerly was an associate at Jones Day in Houston. He also served as a volunteer prosecutor in the City of Houston Legal Department, managing a criminal docket and misdemeanor prosecution for Houston Municipal Court.
Mr. Freeman was named on the 2018-2021 Texas Rising Stars lists for his excellence in business litigation. Rising Stars, which is compiled by Thomson Reuters’ Texas Super Lawyers, honors leading attorneys age 40 and younger and those who have been in practice no more than 10 years.

Obtained a $12.2 million federal court judgment in fraud scheme case for international energy sector company
Served as lead counsel for plaintiffs in securing jury verdict for 100% of requested damages and legal fees in contract dispute case
Obtained defense jury verdict win for motel client accused of negligence in premises liability case
Experience drafting a wide array of pleadings, pre- and post-trial motions, and other briefing in state and federal court
Advised clients on intellectual property matters with a focus on the licensing and use of open source software
Experience taking and defending depositions involving both fact and expert witnesses
Served as lead counsel in multiple consumer credit and Fair Credit Reporting Act disputes
Provided trial preparation, logistics, and support for trial, including creation of pre-trial submissions, proposed jury instructions, witness outlines, and trial demonstratives
Conducted multiple jury trials to verdict as volunteer prosecutor, achieving class-leading conviction rate
