Tamara A. Mitchel is a partner in the firm of BodnarMilone, LLP, which she joined in January 2018. BodnarMilone LLP is a premier law firm in Westchester County focusing exclusively on family and matrimonial law. Previously, Ms. Mitchel was a member of the firm of Berman Frucco Gouz Mitchel & Schub p.c., from 2002 through 2017, a preeminent matrimonial and family law firm. Ms. Mitchel practices in all aspects of matrimonial and family and approaches to them, from the negotiation and drafting of settlement agreements to litigation and trial. Ms. Mitchel also practices collaborative law. She has extensive experience handling both complex and straightforward legal, financial and custody matters, and modification/enforcement cases.
Ms. Mitchel is a cum laude graduate of Harvard Law School, a magna cum laude graduate of Harvard College and completed the Family Law Trial Advocacy Institute of the American Bar Association. She is a highly respected bar association leader, having chaired by election the Domestic Relations - Family Law Section of the Westchester County Bar Association from 2014 - 2016, and serving by election on its Executive Committee from 2008 top the present. Ms. Mitchel also serves by appointment as the Co-Chair of the Custody Committee of the New York State Bar Association Family Law Section and has served by appointment on that Section's Executive Committee from 2008 through the present.
Tamara Mitchel previously worked for the Pace Women’s Justice Center, where she trained law students and represented hundreds of domestic violence victims, and has served on their Advisory Board since 2005. A frequent lecturer on subjects related to matrimonial and family law for continuing legal education programs, Tamara Mitchel is widely recognized in the legal community for her valuable service and contributions to the practice of family law. She is a recipient of two Certificates of Distinguished Service from the Westchester County Office of the County Executive, the Diane White Legal Advocacy Award, a U.S. House of Representatives congressional proclamation and two New York State Senate proclamations for her legal service to the community. In 2018 Ms. Mitchel was elected a Fellow of the New York Bar Foundation.
