Mr. Kasner routinely advises foreign and domestic clients on their cross-border investments, including real estate investments and business activities. His practice also includes forming and overseeing complex international corporate and trust structures, as well as implementing international reorganizations. Mr. Kasner drafts offshore trust instruments and advises on US fiscal information reporting, voluntary disclosures, and withholding tax compliance. He also assists in the development of US offshore, tax compliant private placement life insurance and annuity contracts. Prior to joining Baker & McKenzie, Mr. Kasner was a partner at a boutique law firm in Coral Gables, FL, providing tax advice to both foreign and domestic high net worth individuals with respect to their inbound and outbound activities. He began his career working in the Miami office of a national law firm, concentrating in the area of domestic taxation.

Mr. Kasner is Board Certified in Tax Law by the Florida Bar. He has been listed since 2007 in the publication The Best Lawyers in America for the tax law specialty. Mr. Kasner is recognized as a leading individual in the tax law field by Chambers & Partners in the publication America’s Leading Lawyers for Business. Most recently, he was added to the Citywealth Leader’s List in the International and North American categories and nominated in 2012 for Citywealth’s International Lawyer of the year award. Mr. Kasner is consistently recognized as a peer-designated “Super Lawyer” in Florida Super Lawyers.
Education and admission
Mr. Kasner earned an LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Florida Fredric G. Levin College of Law Graduate Tax Program and a J.D. cum laude from Saint Thomas University School of Law. He earned a Bachelor of Commerce in finance and international business from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Pro bono and community involvement
Mr. Kasner serves as an adjunct professor of federal income taxation and estate planning at Saint Thomas University School of Law, Florida International University School of Law, and The University of Miami, all located in Miami, Florida. He also represents indigent clients, pro bono, in connection with their U.S. tax controversies against the IRS, through an organization known as “Put Something Back,” a joint pro bono project of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida and the Miami-Dade County Bar Association.
