S. Scott Morrison focuses his practice on complex civil litigation matters involving business, real estate and construction clients. Scott is a skilled first-chair litigator, with extensive trial and arbitration experience at both the federal and state levels. He also serves as deputy general counsel to the firm and is a member of the firm's Board of Directors.
He serves as lead trial counsel in sophisticated commercial disputes, handling multimillion-dollar claims brought by or against partnerships, joint ventures, real estate investment trusts (REITs), commercial development and brokerage firms, contractors and limited liability companies. His experience encompasses the full range of business claims, including breach of contract, fraud, Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO), breach of fiduciary duty, valuation, land use, lender liability, misappropriation, false claims, product liability, environmental and non-compete/non-solicitation agreements. Scott is also retained as special litigation counsel in bankruptcy, insurance and probate matters.
Scott is also experienced before the appellate courts, successfully managing matters at both the federal and state levels, including before the US Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, the Virginia Supreme Court, the Maryland Court of Appeals and the Ohio Supreme Court.
