As a former NCAA Division I athlete, Ryan McCarty’s work ethic and competitive nature make him a tremendous advocate for the firm's clients. Ryan practices in the firm’s healthcare litigation and commercial litigation groups. His health care practice is rooted in managed care disputes between a wide variety of hospital systems and physician groups and commercial payors. Ryan addresses both in-network and out-of-network reimbursement disputes including issues related to underpayments and misclassified emergency claims, medical necessity denials, attempted recoupments and offsets, contract interpretation and billing policy disputes.
Ryan has also had a robust commercial litigation practice for nearly 20 years. He has developed substantial experience in business divorce and shareholder disputes, post-close rep and warranty and indemnity disputes, complex commercial contract cases, commercial sales litigation, including warranty claims, and cases involving various torts from high-level fraud to standard negligence.
Representing several large farm and agricultural companies, Ryan also has experience managing disputes arising anywhere from seed-to-table, including disputes involving agricultural commodities, supply chain issues, toxic exposures, and advising companies with an eye toward mitigating liability and avoiding litigation. With a background in biology, Ryan excels in cases involving science or medical issues.
Ryan has a passion for the environment and the outdoors. He was one of the founding members of the Gateway Chapter of Trout Unlimited, where he now serves as President, and served for several years on the board of directors for the Great Rivers Habitat Alliance. Ryan’s love of the outdoors provides a unique ability to communicate with players in the agricultural industry.
