Russell V. Mobley began his career as a Certified Public Accountant before bringing his extensive accounting and tax knowledge to the firm in 1996. His past experience and detailed work ethic allowed Mr. Mobley to quickly become an integral part of the firm’s taxation and estate planning team. In 1999 Mr. Mobley became a partner within the Taxation Group.
Since joining the Business and Taxation Group, Mr. Mobley has developed an expertise in advising families how to plan their estates to reduce taxes and harmoniously carry out the administration of the estate. His objective in estate planning is to help clients achieve their goals, including protecting against potential creditors, tax avoidance, and keeping peace in the family.
Mr. Mobley frequently counsels small business owners on issues ranging from creating proper internal controls for cash to negotiating the sale of the business. He frequently prepares and advises on employment agreements, buy-sell agreements and other contracts used in operations. Mr. Mobley enjoys helping clients with business succession planning, where he frequently has the opportunity to work with multiple generations to carry on the family business.
Another facet of Mr. Mobley’s practice is tax controversy work. He routinely represents taxpayers who are assessed additional taxes, penalties and interest by the Georgia Department of Revenue and Internal Revenue Service. His goal is to help clients pay no more than they owe.
