Rodney L. Bean is a member of Steptoe & Johnson PLLC and serves as Practice Group Leader of the firm’s Labor and Employment Department. Mr. Bean helps employers navigate the complexities of employment law by providing advice and counsel concerning all aspects of the employment relationship. He also represents employers in labor and employment-related legal proceedings before courts, arbitrators, and administrative agencies throughout the region.
Mr. Bean has been ranked among the leading labor and employment lawyers in West Virginia by several independent publications. He has been recognized by the CHAMBERS USA survey of America’s Leading Lawyers for Business, Super Lawyers, and The Best Lawyers in America for several consecutive years. Mr. Bean was awarded an “AV” rating by Martindale-Hubbell, the highest peer review rating available for legal ability and ethical standards.
Before joining Steptoe & Johnson PLLC in 1994, Mr. Bean served as law clerk to the Honorable Charles H. Haden, II, Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia, and as Assistant Attorney General for the State of West Virginia under Attorney General Mario J. Palumbo. He graduated from the West Virginia University College of Law in 1992 and from the Perley Isaac Reed School of Journalism at West Virginia University in 1989.
Mr. Bean is a member of the Board of Directors of Mon Health System and a former member of the Boards of Directors of Scott’s Run Settlement House and the Morgantown Rotary Club. He lives in Morgantown with his wife Rebecca and their two daughters.
