For clients in need of business, tax and finance counsel, Rick has more than 20 years of experience in structuring, negotiating and documenting business, corporate finance and commercial real estate transactions, including merger and acquisition and financing transactions involving senior debt, subordinated debt, secured indebtedness, private equity, venture capital, mezzanine and securitized financing. Rick’s tax practice focuses on tax planning and counsel to partnerships, corporations, individuals, flow-through entities and tax matters involving business and real estate transactions, business successions and tax controversies.
As a participant in the firm’s multi-unit and franchise finance practice, Rick speaks at business conferences and key industry events, and contributes to franchise finance industry publications. He was honored by Franchise Times as one of franchising’s “Legal Eagles.” Rick has also been selected as a “Super Lawyer” by Minnesota Law & Politics magazine.
In addition to earning a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Minnesota, Rick is a certified public accountant (inactive) who began his career with the international accounting firm of PricewaterhouseCoopers.
