Capell, Barnett, Matalon & Schoenfeld, Llp
Peter joined Capell Barnett Matalon & Schoenfeld LLP (CBMS) as a Partner effective January 1, 2016 and now manages the firm's growing litigation practice. He brought with him his team from Sanders Litigation Associates, P.C. (SLA), a firm which he founded 15 years earlier in 2001. Through the years the practice has grown in sophistication and breadth of practice to include a wide variety of litigation matters before all trial level courts including the Supreme Court, District and Civil Courts, Federal and Surrogates Courts, and the governing Appellate Courts throughout Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronk, Nassau and Suffolk Counties. The practice also extends to matters before Administrative Agencies such as the DHCR and HPD. The firm’s growing Litigation Department now has six litigation attorneys. The Litigation Department is also assisted by a general support staff of seven, including and in addition to the firm’s Real Estate Development, Construction, Zoning, Commercial Leasing, Transactional, and Estate Administration attorneys and paralegals.
Peter prides himself in having established for himself and his team a reputation as fierce advocates for their clients who know how to leverage their litigation skills to achieve a successful resolution, whether it be through trial or a pragmatic settlement. He has personally tried over a hundred cases, and settled well over a thousand, in his 25 years of practice. Peter is a past four-term Vice President of the Kings County Housing Court Bar Association and continues to serve on their Appellate and By-Laws Committees. Peter also works with a wide variety of religious and not-for-profit corporations on real estate, leasing, and litigation matters. He has lectured on various litigation topics to judges and attorneys alike, at bar association continuing education forums and judicial seminars through the New York City courts.
