Peter B. Allport focuses his practice on representing clients in class actions, fiduciary litigation and other complex commercial litigation.
Peter defends clients in a variety of class actions, including consumer fraud, product liability and securities. He has obtained dismissals of class allegations and defeated motions for class certification in federal and state courts around the country.
Peter also represents clients in connection with various forms of fiduciary litigation, including shareholder litigation and trusts and estates litigation. Peter’s experience includes representing public companies, private companies and their directors and officers in defense of breach of fiduciary duty claims arising out of, among other things, mergers and acquisitions, the sale of corporate assets, alleged accounting irregularities, alleged self-dealing transactions and the alleged waste of corporate assets. He has experience representing trustees and executors in will contests, trust contests and other cases involving allegations of breaches of fiduciary duty. In addition, Peter has experience representing trust beneficiaries in cases involving breaches of fiduciary duty as well as will and trust construction and reformation suits.
Previously, Peter served as a law clerk to the Honorable Virginia M. Kendall, US District Court Judge for the Northern District of Illinois.
