Marie is a Shareholder and practice leader of Hill Ward Henderson's Appellate Practice Group. Her practice has centered on appellate representation for over 20 years, and she has been a Florida Bar Board Certified Appellate Practice Lawyer since 2001. Marie's practice is principally devoted to handling appeals involving a broad range of matters, including professional and medical malpractice defense, products liability claims, and complex commercial, property tax, land use and real estate disputes. In addition, Marie assists the firm’s litigation groups with the preparation of dispositive motions and complex legal memoranda. Marie has appeared extensively before the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, the Florida Supreme Court, and Florida’s District Courts of Appeal.
In addition to representing firm clients in a broad range of appellate matters, Marie also serves as counsel to lawyers outside of the firm on both appellate and complex legal and procedural litigation matters. These services include advice regarding appellate rules, procedures and strategies; editing of briefs and legal memoranda; and representation as co-counsel in appellate proceedings. Marie's appellate and litigation practice focuses principally on the defense of professional malpractice, medical malpractice and products liability actions, as well as property tax, real estate and land use matters.
Marie also volunteers her time to her alma mater, Duke University, and to her community. As a member of the Duke University Alumni Admissions Advisory Committee, Marie interviews local students applying for admission to Duke. She also serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of St. Johns Episcopal Parish and Day School. She formerly served on the Board of Trustees of The Spring of Tampa Bay, Inc., and on the Board of Directors of the Tampa Club.
