Jay Old’s career as a trial attorney has spanned over 30 years. While he’s worked on a wide variety of cases, his practice currently focuses on matters involving construction, insurance, products liability, healthcare, and professional liability.
Mr. Old formerly served as President of the Texas Association of Defense Counsel, the largest state-wide defense lawyer organization in the country. He also chaired the Construction Law Section of the State Bar of Texas and has served on numerous task forces appointed by both the State Bar and the Texas Supreme Court. He is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell, and is Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Mr. Old also is a member of ABOTA, a Fellow in the Texas Bar Foundation and is active in DRI and the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel (“FDCC”).
Mr. Old serves on the Board of Sky High Shoot.org, a non-profit organization which raises money for children diagnosed with cancer and their families. He also serves on the Board of St. Stephen’s Episcopal School in Austin. Previously, Mr. Old served on the University of Virginia Parents’ Committee Executive Committee, the Advisory Board of Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, and the Symphony of Southeast Texas. Over the years, he has served several other civic organizations, including the Rotary Club of Beaumont and the Beaumont Chamber of Commerce.
Born in Beaumont, Texas, Mr. Old has strong ties to his community and works hard to give back to it. He recently ran for election to the United States Congress in the race to replace Ron Paul in the 14th Congressional District in Texas. He often participates in pro bono clinics for veterans and underprivileged individuals in need of legal assistance. Over the years he’s traveled extensively around the country to promote and educate others on the importance of our jury system. After receiving a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Texas A&M University, Mr. Old attended Texas Tech University School of Law, where he graduated magna cum laude.
