Ellie Hourizadeh focuses her practice on the enforcement of clients’ intellectual property (IP) rights. Ellie has represented entertainment companies, film, television and radio broadcasting companies, music publishers, and recording artists in numerous contract disputes and copyright and trademark infringement cases. In addition, Ellie has litigated cases arising out of recording contracts, dissolution of partnerships, antipiracy disputes, idea submission claims, distribution agreements, rights of publicity of celebrities, and audit disputes in the motion picture, television, radio, recording, publishing and merchandising industries.
Ellie also counsels clients on the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) safe harbor, as well as on online data privacy, domain name disputes (including Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) actions), and IP due diligence in connection with corporate and financing transactions.
Ellie also advises clients with respect to commercial exploitation of their intellectual property rights, including drafting and negotiating license, distribution, joint venture, co-branding and commercial exploitation agreements for clients in a wide range of industries.
In addition, Ellie routinely advises companies on privacy and data security laws. She assists clients in preparing comprehensive privacy and data security programs and policies for multifaceted businesses and advises clients on collection, use, retention and disposal of personal identifiable information. In the event of a breach, Ellie works with clients to develop and implement effective response and remediation strategies.
