Elizabeth "Lisa" Pretus, Esq. is an experienced commercial and healthcare transactional, regulatory, and technology lawyer, and the Managing Member of The Pretus Law Group. Ms. Pretus’ multi-state law practice focuses on the representation of physicians, hospitals, and other commercial entities in a wide range of transactional and regulatory matters. She possesses extensive expertise in a wide variety areas related to corporate, healthcare, and technology law, with substantial experience in general healthcare law, physician employment, recruitment, reimbursement issues, mergers & acquisitions, corporate compliance, and the development of joint ventures in connection with urgent care centers, ancillary services, hospitals, and freestanding emergency rooms. She also has deep experience in risk management, and corporate law, having worked in a variety of corporate settings for over a decade, and provides general-counsel-level services to a number of her clients.
Ms. Pretus is particularly experienced in providing strategic planning and advice to healthcare clients seeking to build and develop new business ventures, including standing-up new healthcare entities, concierge clinics, and telemedicine services. Her interests also include health information systems, and she has extensive experience helping clients commercialize healthcare software and navigate the legal and regulatory issues related to such systems and the data they contain.
Ms. Pretus received her B.A. with Special Honors in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin and her J.D. from Louisiana State University. Ms. Pretus is also a trained commercial mediator certified by the American Health Lawyers Association. With more than 15 years of experience, she is rated “AV Preeminent” by Martindale-Hubbell®.
Ms. Pretus is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, including the Healthcare Section and the Alternate Dispute Resolution Section, the American Health Lawyers Association, the Louisiana Society of Hospital Attorneys, the Health Law Section of the American Bar Association, and the Women Healthcare Executives Network. She also serves on the board of a number of community organizations: Cancer Association of Greater New Orleans (CAGNO): 2007 – Present, Board Vice President 2017 – Present; Angel’s Place 2017 – Present; Friends of Airline Park Academy for Advaned Studies: Board Member 2014 – 2018; Board Vice President 2015 – 2017.
