Over the last seventeen years, Elissa Noujaim Pinto has focused her practice on business immigration, representing local, national and international companies in obtaining authorization for foreign national employees to work temporarily and permanently in the United States, through various visa classifications (TN, H-1B, L-1 (including Blanket Ls), E-2, E-3, H-3, J-1, O-1, R-1, B-1 in lieu of H-1B) and employment-based permanent residence processes (Alien Labor Certification (PERM) EB-2/EB-3, EB-5 Investor, Multinational Manager/Executive, Extraordinary Ability/Outstanding Researcher). She has advised clients on best practices and strategies for long and short-term foreign national employment and workplace compliance issues for foreign nationals (including I-9 internal audits and U.S. ICE I-9 investigations) and she regularly provides tailored guidance and training to corporate clients on the ever-evolving and complex U.S. immigration laws and policies. Ms. Pinto has extensive experience preparing Responses to complex government requests for additional evidence and Motions to Reconsider, as well as responding to DOL PERM Audits. Ms. Pinto also has experience with family-based immigration matters including K-1 Fiancee, Marriage-based green card, and I-751 Removal of Conditions. She has assisted clients with various other immigration related processes, including J-1 No Objection Waiver, representation at USCIS personal interviews for green card and naturalization applications, assisting with complex B-1 Business visitor applications, as well as assisting with Visa application administrative processing issues. Ms. Pinto also represents clients applying for U.S. Citizenship and Re-entry Permits.
Ms. Pinto has presented to clients and conducted tailored one-one-one training to HR professionals and corporate management on all aspects of the U.S. business immigration process to facilitate the hiring, transfer, management and retention of a foreign national workforce. Ms. Pinto has also performed simultaneous interpretation and written translation services for Brazilian clients and colleagues, and facilitated meetings among Executives from international companies.
Understanding how the U.S. immigration process is interrelated with other areas of practice, such as corporate, labor and employment and international tax, Ms. Pinto enjoys collaborating with colleagues to provide comprehensive representation to serve the business needs of clients. She takes a team approach to ensure the highest quality service and experience for clients and their foreign national talent.
Ms. Pinto has personal experience with the U.S. immigration process as the daughter of Brazilian-Americans. She is fluent in Portuguese, and also speaks Spanish and French.
