Edward S. Snyder has been a matrimonial practitioner for over 40 years. Ed is a results-oriented legal professional who has represented thousands of men and women and assisted them in achieving excellent results in a professional and dignified manner.
In 1999, Ed was recognized by his peers as the recipient of the Saul Tischler Award from the Family Law Section of the New Jersey Bar Association for lifetime achievement in family law. In 2008, Ed was awarded the Silver Shingle Award from Boston University School of Law for his outstanding contributions to the legal profession. He has been lead counsel in numerous trials and has argued three times before the New Jersey Supreme Court including the nationally recognized cases of Konzelman v. Konzelman, and Tannen v. Tannen. Ed has also been appointed by the New Jersey Supreme Court for the Committee on the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court from 1971-1974. He was also a part of the Committee on Matrimonial Litigation (June 1980), Committee on Motion Picture (1988), Special Committee on Matrimonial Litigation (1996), and the Family Practice Committee (1998). Ed is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and a Charter Fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers. He served as a member of the Council of the Section of Family Law of the American Bar Association from 1984 to 1990 and he is a former Chairman of the Family Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association. He was elected a Diplomate of the American College of Family Trial Lawyers whose membership is limited to only 100 trial lawyers throughout the country. Ed has lectured throughout the country on matrimonial and custody matters for many organizations, including the New Jersey Judicial College, the New Jersey State Bar Association, the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education, the Delaware State Bar Association, the New York Trial Lawyers Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Institute and the American Bar Association. Ed has been selected for Martindale-Hubbell Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers, Best Lawyers and Super Lawyers.
Ed’s articles on family law have appeared in many legal publications such as: Institute for Continuing Legal Education, American Journal of Family Law, New Jersey Law Journal, and Journal of American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. Ed is often contacted by the news media to comment on issues of national interest and has appeared on CourtTV.
Ed has three children and lives with his wife in Denville, NJ. In his spare time he enjoys reading, hiking and spending time with his family.
