David is the Managing Partner of the Birmingham location of Hall Booth Smith, P.S. He has tried dozens of jury trials in various state and federal courts in Alabama. He is a member of the Health Care Practice Group where his practice is focused on medical malpractice defense. His litigation experience also extends to the defense of matters involving employment discrimination, products liability, insurance fraud, commercial disputes and premises liability.
David participated in the successful defense of a broker dealer against claims by a financial advisor in FINRA arbitration. He was one of the lead trial lawyers in recent significant securities litigation, and was central to innovative trial preparation and the development of effective case themes that would resonate with local jurors. Shortly before trial, the court granted summary judgment for the firm’s client.
David graduated from Washington and Lee University (B.A., cum laude, 1981) and the University of Alabama School of Law (J. D., 1984). He is a member of the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association, Birmingham and American Bar Associations, and the Alabama State Bar. He is also a member of the Mississippi Bar Association.
David is also active in the community, having served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Greater Alabama Council of the Boy Scouts of America, Birmingham Boys Choir and the Birmingham Business Alliance. David is also a member of the Downtown Rotary Club of Birmingham and an active member of Cathedral Church of the Advent (Episcopal).
