Duane (Rusty) Denton works in the firm's Litigation and Labor and Employment Practice Groups. He handles a wide variety of commercial litigation and employment matters, representing clients in pre-dispute counseling and negotiations, ADR, administrative proceedings, discovery, injunction hearings, trials and appeals.
Rusty has represented clients in commercial litigation in both state and federal courts involving claims of breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, common law fraud, conversion, defamation, non-compete and non-disclosure violations, shareholder misconduct, trade secret misappropriation and inevitable disclosure, torts, tortious interference and unfair competition. He represents employers in the full range of labor and employment matters, regularly providing clients with general advice and counsel on employment policies and practices, employee discipline and termination, and union relations. He also represents employers in litigation before agencies and courts on all types of labor disputes and employment claims, including discrimination, wage disputes and wrongful termination.
Rusty was selected for inclusion in the 2004, 2005, 2012 and 2013 Indiana Super Lawyers® listing of all Indiana attorneys. He lectures and teaches in the areas of federal evidence, federal civil practice and employment law. He is also an active leader in many community and professional organizations. Among other activities, he has served on the Board of the Joseph Maley Foundation, Board of Managers of the Indianapolis Bar Association, as Chair of the IBA Young Lawyers Division, as President and Treasurer of the Indianapolis Chapter of the Federal Bar Association and as member of the Indiana Federal Community Defenders Board.
