Curtis W. Martin is Managing Partner of Peckar & Abramson’s Houston office. He represents contractors and owners on large construction projects and advises clients on all facets of the construction process, from the preparation of contract documents to counseling on risk management, business and legal issues that arise during projects, and dispute resolution. Mr. Martin draws on his extensive experience in the construction industry, where he has focused his professional life since 1979 as both a construction lawyer and an industry executive. He is one of very few lawyers who have served as President and Chief Operating Officer of an ENR-400 construction company.
Mr. Martin is at the forefront of industry trends—including new technologies such as Building Information Modeling (BIM)—which are changing the way construction is performed. A thought leader in this area, he has taught the AGC's BIM Module 3 (BIM Contract Negotiation and Risk Allocation) since its inception. He also frequently writes and lectures on topics in construction law and risk management, and has taught construction law at the university level and trained industry professionals throughout the United States and abroad. Teaching, leading, and counseling come naturally to Mr. Martin, who serves as a Ride Marshal and top fund-raiser each year for the BP MS150, riding his bike from Houston to Austin.
