Introduced to the insurance and legal industries at a very young age, Candace Ourso followed her maritime roots and found a home among some of Houston’s most well-respected and successful trial lawyers, expanding into the offshore energy sector soon thereafter. Ms. Ourso’s familiarity with these industries shaped her holistic approach to problem solving by carefully listening and evaluating the individual needs of her clients and finding the best-fit solutions to the issues they face.
Ms. Ourso focuses her practice on a variety of complex marine and energy insurance coverage issues involving domestic and foreign insurers; energy-related subrogation matters; admiralty, maritime and energy cases; mass casualty and claims; and excess-liability coverage disputes. She has represented clients in hundreds of maritime and energy coverage matters, including commercial and marine liabilities, builders risk, specialty drilling equipment, operator’s extra expense, and pollution and political risk.
Each case is unique, and the ways in which those cases are resolved is different. Ms. Ourso knows that her next case will not be solved in the same way as the last. She believes in paying attention to and learning from the people around her. In being vulnerable and open to changing your approach. As she says, these are the keys to understanding where a client wants to go, and attorneys must work tirelessly to get there.
