Amy Shimalla is
a graduate of Rutgers University (with highest honors) and of Seton Hall Law
School. She is a partner with Shimalla,
Wechsler & Lepp, LLP in Warren, New Jersey where she limits her practice to
Family Law, Collaborative Divorce, Mediation, and Arbitration. Ms. Shimalla is certified by the New Jersey
Supreme Court as a Matrimonial Law Attorney and accredited by the New Jersey
Association of Professional Mediators (NJAPM) as a divorce and custody
mediator.
Ms. Shimalla
co-founded the custody mediation program in Somerset County and she
serves as a mediator under the Statewide Mandatory Economic Mediation
Program. She sits on the Early
Settlement Panels in Somerset and Hunterdon Counties and is Co-Chair of the Somerset County Bar
Association Family Law Committee. She is
a former President of the Somerset County Bar Association and former Trustee
from Somerset County to the New Jersey State Bar Association. Amy is a Past Chair of the District XIII Fee Arbitration Committee
and a member of the District XIII Ethics Committee. She is also Past Chair of the NJSBA Task
Force on Diversity and Past Chair of the NJSBA Women In the Profession
Section. Ms. Shimalla is also the
recipient of the Year 2000 New Jersey Commission on Professionalism Attorney of
the Year award for Somerset County. She
has been named in Best Lawyers in America for Alternate Dispute
Resolution 2005-2011.
Amy is a frequent
lecturer for various groups, including the Institute for Continuing Legal
Education as a trainer in their Mediation Training and Collaborative Law
Training seminars.
She is currently a
member of the NJSBA Family Law Executive Committee, and President Elect of the
New Jersey Collaborative Law Group.
