Recognized as a leading national expert on issues in immigration law, Ms. Maldonado has appeared on MSNBC, CNN and various local television stations and has been interviewed/quoted by the Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Houston Chronicle, Philadelphia Inquirer, and other newspapers. Ms. Maldonado's practice is concentrated in high end business immigration, with the following areas of focus: sports immigration (with several clients in Major League Baseball) for professional athletes and coaches, and athletic trainers; artists, musicians and entertainers; health technology companies, hospitals, physicians and nurses; university professors, scientists, and researchers holding advanced degrees; journalists; investors; and other technology companies. Ms. Maldonado also handles various family-based immigration matters, naturalization/citizenship, J-1 waivers of the 212(e) requirement, and other matters. She does not accept removal/deportation cases. In conjunction with the non-profit ALDEA - the People's Justice Center, Ms. Maldonado volunteers her legal services representing immigrant children in federal court.
Ms. Maldonado is a frequent speaker at professional conferences and webinars/continuing legal education in the areas of sports immigration, business immigration and the legal representation of immigrant children. Ms. Maldonado received the 2019 Sports Immigration Lawyer of the Year Award at the Sports Immigration Law Conference hosted by the Central Florida Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. For her pro bono representation of immigrant children separated from their parents in lawsuits seeking reunification, Ms. Maldonado received an Award for Excellence in Pro Bono Service from the Judges of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the Chicago Chapter of the Federal Bar Association.
