Mr. Holgate has over 21 years of experience in practicing law in Utah and has represented a wide variety of clients in workers’ compensation defense, insurance defense, subrogation, and construction defect cases. He has represented clients in workers’ compensation cases in administrative hearings before the Utah Labor Commission since 2014.
Most recently, Mr. Holgate has worked for the Utah Attorney General’s office representing Utah’s Uninsured Employer’s Fund. He also represented the Industrial Accidents Division of the Utah Labor Commission and handled penalty case appeals before the administrative law courts of the Utah Labor Commission. While working for the Utah Attorney General’s office, Mr. Holgate was successful in resolving many cases through mediation as well as other alternative dispute resolution methods.
Prior to his employment with the Utah Attorney General’s office, Mr. Holgate served as in-house counsel for Farmers’ Insurance, and worked for several years for a well-known Salt Lake City area firm handling a wide range of insurance defense cases, including personal injury defense, premises liability, minor settlements, coverage opinions, bad faith litigation, and construction defect litigation.
Mr. Holgate graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology. He received his juris doctorate from Gonzaga University School of Law in Spokane, Washington, and has lived in Utah for the past 22 years.
