Tim Clark is a partner in Goodwin’s Private Equity group and a member of the firm’s Private Investment Funds practice. He has represented a wide range of private equity clients, including private equity and other alternative managers operating in the buyout, growth equity, credit, distressed/special situation, secondary, real asset (including energy and agribusiness) and venture capital sectors. His clients include established managers raising funds across multiple asset classes and strategies as well as first-time and emerging managers raising more targeted fund products.
Recognized as a leading investment funds lawyer, Mr. Clark has significant experience working with funds operating and raising capital in different geographies, including the United States/North America, Europe, Latin America and Asia. His work includes the full spectrum of private equity fund formation and manager activities, including formation of new firms and manager joint ventures; fund structuring; capital raising; carry and other incentive programs; Investment Advisers Act and Investment Company Act advice; fund subscription facilities and fund liquidity transactions; secondary transactions including portfolio sales and purchases, GP restructurings and stapled secondaries; GP stakes transactions; and firm transition planning.
Prior to joining Goodwin in 2019, Mr. Clark was a partner at Sidley Austin LLP, where he co-headed the Private Equity Fund Formation practice.
