Experience Summary:
Thomas Flanagan concentrates his practice in complex business litigation and civil appeals in the state and federal courts of Louisiana. Mr. Flanagan has substantial experience in all aspects of business litigation, including contract claims, corporate and shareholder disputes, antitrust suits, securities and banking cases, and intellectual-property disputes. His appellate practice includes these and several other areas, as dictated by the needs of his clients and referring counsel.
Mr. Flanagan graduated magna cum laude from Georgetown University in 1986, ranking in the top 10 percent of his undergraduate class. He earned his law degree summa cum laude at Tulane Law School, where he was awarded the Faculty Medal for the highest cumulative average in his 1989 graduating class. At Tulane, Mr. Flanagan served on the Board of Editors of the Tulane Law Review and was a member of the Order of the Coif. After law school, he clerked for the late John Minor Wisdom on the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
Mr. Flanagan is on the adjunct faculty of Tulane Law School, where he teaches Civil Law Torts; serves as an instructor with the National Institute for Trial Advocacy; and is an assistant bar examiner in the areas of business entities and negotiable instruments. Mr. Flanagan was the President of the Federal Bar Association – New Orleans Chapter in 2004-05, and also served as an elected member of the House of Delegates of the Louisiana State Bar Association (2001-07).
