In Scott Knapp’s Business Litigation practice, he has represented clients in cases
involving fraud, violations of non-compete agreements, misappropriation of
trade secrets and breach of contract. He has represented Michigan’s largest
health care company and insurance subsidiaries in many dozens of cases, including
ERISA disputes and putative class actions brought by physicians and other
health care providers; and has secured summary judgment dismissing a putative
national class action brought against a major insurer by policyholders
asserting fraud and breach of contract. Mr. Knapp has obtained injunctions on
behalf of various securities firms preventing departed brokers from poaching
clients in violation of non-compete and non-solicitation agreements and has
represented various Michigan and national lenders in breach of contract and
fraud actions. Mr. Knapp has regularly served as trial counsel for some of
Michigan’s largest business entities. Additionally, he has represented numerous
residential, commercial, and industrial developers in rezoning, site plan,
special land use, variance, and infrastructure permit and approval matters.
