Robert L. Vance is a member of the firm whose practice focuses
on litigation, municipal law, and mediation. He works in the firm’s Sevierville
office. Mr. Vance serves as City Attorney for Gatlinburg and is counsel for
various local governmental boards. He also represents clients in a broad range
of litigation matters, including business litigation, property disputes, banking
litigation, personal injury, product liability, and general civil litigation. He
is also listed as a Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 31 Civil Mediator and serves
as a mediator in civil disputes. Mr. Vance has represented clients in Tennessee
State courts and in federal courts, both at the trial and appellate levels. He
has been rated by his peers with the highest level of professional excellence
with an AV® Preeminent™ Martindale-Hubbell rating.
Mr. Vance was born in Oxford, Mississippi and raised in
Gatlinburg, Tennessee. He graduated from The University of Tennessee,
Knoxville, in 1998 with a B.A. in English. Mr. Vance received his J.D. from The
University of Tennessee College of Law in 2001, graduating cum laude. He
completed the Advocacy Concentration and was active in the UT Legal Clinic
while in law school. Mr. Vance is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.
He was admitted to practice law in 2001.
Mr. Vance is a member of the American Bar Association, the
Tennessee Bar Association, and the Knoxville Bar Association, where he serves
as co-chairperson of the Fee Dispute Resolution Committee. He is also a member
of the Tennessee Municipal Attorneys Association, the International Municipal
Lawyers Association, and is a co-editor of the Tennessee Section of the Tort
Law Desk Reference, a nationally distributed annual review of each state’s tort
law.
