Lightfoot, Franklin & White LLC
Rachel is a Litigator.
Rachel Lary has never been one to shy away from a challenge —a trait that has served her well in the world of litigation. Since joining Lightfoot more than 11 years ago, she found her voice in the courtroom—successfully litigating a broad spectrum of cases, including business disputes, product liability claims, white-collar cases, and estate and trust disputes.
Rachel’s approach to litigation is not cookie-cutter. She knows what is required to take a difficult case all the way through trial. At each stage of litigation, she works towards developing a persuasive story. Rachel enjoys the challenges of uncovering the facts, and telling the story in a way that embraces the truth, directly deals with the hard facts, and persuades a court or jury to find in her client’s favor.
Rachel’s Practice Reaches Beyond Alabama.
Rachel serves as national counsel for several clients, and leads a product liability team for a Fortune 500 client, which requires overseeing and managing litigation in multiple states, including Alabama, Georgia, and Louisiana.
Rachel has been selected as a Rising Star each year since 2014 in the former Alabama and current Mid-South Super Lawyers for her work in business litigation. She was recently recognized by The Best Lawyers in America by Woodward White, Inc. 2018 edition for her work in commercial litigation.
Rachel plays a strong and central leadership role at Lightfoot. She is devoted to mentoring and fostering the next generation of Lightfoot lawyers, working to create opportunities for them to gain litigation experience. She manages the firm’s program with a local client that allows young Lightfoot lawyers to handle the client’s small claims cases, providing them with valuable trial experience.
Before joining Lightfoot, Rachel had the honor of clerking for the former Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, the Honorable Joel F. Dubina, where she gained invaluable experience in the law and insight in how to be an honorable and respectable leader. She enjoyed attending the Cumberland School of Law, Samford University where she graduated magna cum laude in 2005, was an Associate Editor of the Cumberland Law Review and inducted into the Curias Honoris. She spent her undergraduate time in Tuscaloosa where she received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama, magna cum laude, in 2002.
Outside the Office.
Rachel is an active and committed member of her community, Homewood, Alabama, where she grew up, and where she and her husband have chosen to raise their family. Most of her free time is consumed with navigating the trials of raising two children, one of whom has her mother’s tenacious personality, which makes parenting an everyday lesson in negotiation.
