Mikhail Murshak is an experienced intellectual property attorney specializing in patent and trademark strategy and acquisition. Working with start-ups is his primary area of interest, especially helping in making a cost-effective strategic plan to build a strong IP portfolio and avoid risky pitfalls. This includes assisting his clients with negotiating terms, reviewing agreements, and due diligence. His background includes preparation and prosecution of patents in the area of medical devices, manufacturing, consumer products, computer technology, automotive, aerospace, chemical engineering, nanotechnology, sleep technology, and much more.
Mr. Murshak grew up in mid-Michigan and after receiving his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from MSU, he earned the Oliver Ellsworth Scholarship to attend the University of Connecticut School of Law.
Prior to joining Loomis, Mr. Murshak served as head IP Counsel for a high-end luxury sleep technology company based in Michigan. In that role, he drove the company’s IP acquisition strategy for both patents and trademarks, helping secure their position as the most innovative company in the sleep industry. He worked closely with the R&D team and the company leadership to ensure the company continued to be the leader in technology and innovation.
Mr. Murshak got his start in IP as an intellectual property analyst for the jet engine company Pratt & Whitney. He helped manage and grow a patent portfolio for an innovation strategy group specializing in engine data acquisition architecture. Prior to law school and while earning this degree, he worked as a quality control analyst for Merit Laboratories, an environmental analytical testing facility.
In addition to his work at the Loomis Law Firm, Mr. Murshak is an IP Adjunct Professor at Michigan State University College of Law and Western Michigan University Cooley Law School. He is also a consultant for Invent Tribe, a service that assists inventors with commercializing their inventions.
