Mike has over 40 years of wide-ranging trial and appellate experience at every level of the state and federal court systems. His practice focuses on medical liability and regulatory matters, Medicaid and health insurance payment issues, class action litigation including employment disputes, constitutional litigation, and related appeals. He has been lead counsel on more than 50 appeals resulting in published opinions. Before joining Bennett Bigelow & Leedom, Mike served for 19 years with the Washington Attorney General’s Office, where he represented and advised various state agencies, colleges and universities, and their and officers in highly complex litigation.
Mike is a fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers, ranked ‘AV Preeminent’ by Martindale Hubbell, and named to Washington Super Lawyers, most recently in 2020, listed in Best Lawyers in America under three different categories since 2016 and named Lawyer of the Year in Health Care - 2019 and Medical Malpractice Defendants - 2020. Mike graduated from Boston University School of Law, cum laude, and is an active member of the Washington Defense Trial Lawyers’ Government Liability section and Technology section. He is also a member of the Washington State Society of Healthcare Attorneys and the Defense Research Institute.

Washington State Attorney General’s Office: 1978-1997. Served in Revenue, Corrections, Natural Resources and Torts divisions. Last position: Senior Counsel responsible for representing state colleges and universities in liability litigation.
