Mr. Quinn has earned and enjoys the respect of lawyers and judges throughout West Michigan. He has actively been involved in numerous bar affiliations on both the state and local level. He has served on the Board of Trustees for the Grand Rapids Bar Association and chaired the Lawyer Referral Service Committee. Mr. Quinn was formerly elected as the chairperson for the Grand Rapids Bar Association Family Law Section. Articles and Presentations Mr. Quinn regularly lectures at seminars for family law attorneys and judges throughout the State of Michigan for the Institute of Continuing Legal Education, the State Bar of Michigan, the Michigan Judicial Institute List, and the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.Michael B. Quinn is a member of the firm and has been practicing law since 1977. A member of Miller Johnson’s litigation group, Mr. Quinn focuses his practice exclusively on family law and related matters. Family LawMr. Quinn has more than 40 years of trial court litigation experience. In that time, he has successfully litigated complex property division cases, business and professional valuation cases, and difficult child custody matters throughout West Michigan. Recognizing that litigation may not always be the best way to achieve his client’s goals, Mr. Quinn has broad experience and training in alternative dispute resolution methods, such as mediation and arbitration. He is certified by the State Court Administrator’s Office as a facilitative mediator ,certified as an arbitrator by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and certitude Collaborative Law attorney. He has successfully mediated and arbitrated numerous and complex family law issues.
In 2003, Mr. Quinn was admitted as a fellow in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. The American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers was founded in 1962 by domestic relations attorneys to encourage the study of, and improve the practice of, family law. There are currently only 1,600 fellows in the United States.
.In 2010, he was named a Michigan State Bar Foundation Fellow. Mr. Quinn is listed in “Best Lawyers in America®” in the area of family law, and family law mediation. He was also selected and named one of Michigan’s “Super Lawyers” in the area of family law. Super Lawyers identifies the top 5 percent of attorneys in each state, as chosen by their peers and through the independent research of Law & Politics. Mr. Quinn has an AV® rating by Martindale-Hubbell Community Activities Mr. Quinn is a member of St. Robert’s of Newminister Parish in Ada, Michigan. He is a current member of the Kent County Conservation League. Education Mr. Quinn received his law degree in 1977 from Thomas M. Cooley Law School and his undergraduate degree in 1971 from Central Michigan University. He is admitted to practice in Michigan and regularly has cases in West Michigan counties including Kent, Ottawa, Ionia, Montcalm, Allegan, Muskegon, Oceana, Newaygo, and Mecosta.
