Each time Jim arrives at the courthouse to represent one of his clients in a divorce or custody case, his reputation precedes him as one of the most formidable family law attorneys around. With hundreds of cases under his belt, clients know they can count on Jim to help them through their most difficult situations. Jim handles divorce, child custody, and contested probate cases.
He has also been appointed by the courts in Denton and Dallas counties to represent children involved in divorce cases, both as an attorney ad litem and an amicus attorney. When presented with a case, Jim’s number one priority is to reach a conclusion acceptable to both sides and with the least disruption to the family. Jim also works with the elderly, providing them with the legal services they need during their golden years. He became heavily involved with elder law after dealing with the final illnesses of his parents.
Before Jim moved into law, he spent over twelve years in the radio broadcast industry working both in front of and behind the mic. Jim then developed an interest in real estate and sold residential and commercial properties in the late 1980s in the Tulsa, Oklahoma area. It was during this time that Jim started law school at the University of Tulsa and received his J.D. in 1992. A native Californian, Jim then made the move south to the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex and began his practice. Along with other Neal Ashmore Family Law Group lawyers, Jim takes an active part in the North Texas legal community, having previously served as president of the Denton County Bar Association.
