Jeffrey M. Hoffman began his legal career at Lowe Stein in 2004 as an associate attorney and was elected partner in 2013.
Mr. Hoffman has extensive experience in family law and he has litigated cases and negotiated settlements involving custody, child support, spousal support, prenuptial agreements, community property partitions, co-owned property partitions, and complex financial matters. Mr. Hoffman has successfully tried numerous cases involving the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act (UCCJEA). In 2013, Mr. Hoffman was recognized as a Rising Star in the area of family law by the Super Lawyers publication and he has maintained that distinction. Also in 2013, Mr. Hoffman was appointed to the Family Law Committee of the New Orleans Bar Association. In 2014, Mr. Hoffman was recognized as one of the “Top 10 Under 40” for excellence in the field of Family Law by the National Academy of Family Law Attorneys. In 2015, Mr. Hoffman was recognized by New Orleans Magazine as one of the Top Attorneys in the field of Family Law.
Mr. Hoffman has spearheaded the firm’s BP division, assisting individuals and businesses in filing claims in the Court Supervised Class Action Settlement in connection with the 2010 oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. He also represents numerous oil field service companies in the Multi-District Litigation against BP.
Mr. Hoffman has also successfully represented clients in personal injury lawsuits, trade mark infringement cases, employment discrimination, sexual harassment cases, and collection matters. He helps entrepreneurs form their business, draft contracts and operating agreements and negotiate leases.
Since 2005, Mr. Hoffman has served as the firm’s liaison to the New Orleans Pro Bono Project, which provides legal services to members of our community who are in need. He has found this work to be some of the most meaningful and rewarding of his career.
Mr. Hoffman is admitted to practice in all Louisiana state courts and also the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of Louisiana and the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeal
