James E. Hacker is a 1981 graduate of Hamilton
College and a 1984 graduate of Albany Law School. Mr. Hacker holds an AV
rating from Martindale Hubbell and is recognized as a “Best Lawyer in America”
in the fields of commercial litigation and personal injury by “Best Lawyers”.
Mr. Hacker is a
member of the Board of Trustees at Albany Law School and is a member of the
Board of Directors for the Albany County Bar Association. He is a Regional Vice President of the New
York State Trial Lawyers Academy and a past president of the Capital District
Trial Lawyers.
Mr. Hacker divides his trial practice between
the areas of commercial litigation and plaintiff’s personal injury. In 2013, Jim was recognized as “Lawyer of the
Year” for plaintiff’s personal injury in the Albany, Schenectady, Troy
area. In 2011 he was recognized as
“Lawyer of the Year” by “Best Lawyers” in the area of commercial litigation in
Albany’s Capital District.
In
handling personal injury cases, Mr. Hacker has represented individuals in cases
involving complex product liability issues, automobile accidents resulting in
serious injuries, traumatic brain injuries, spinal damage, burn injuries,
carbon monoxide poisoning and medical malpractice.
With
respect to commercial litigation, Mr. Hacker represents individuals and
corporations with respect to their issues involving breach of contract,
restrictive covenants, insurance disputes, arbitrations and collection matters.
Recently
Mr. Hacker has been serving as a neutral in mediation and arbitration matters
brought before him by private litigants. He is known for his practical
and fair approach to resolving disputes amicably in the alternative dispute
resolution arena.
Mr. Hacker
is the managing partner of E. Stewart Jones Hacker Murphy, LLP, an 15 attorney firm in
Albany, Troy and Saratoga, New York focusing on commercial litigation, personal injury, tax
certiorari litigation and criminal law.
