Jim Benedict combined his chemical engineering background and legal training to develop a practice focused in the areas of environmental, energy, and natural resources law. He regularly advises clients regarding compliance with federal, state, and local environmental laws.
Mr. Benedict has developed extensive expertise in siting electric generating facilities. This includes permitting, project documentation, and power sales contract negotiations for natural gas-fired, wind cogeneration, hydroelectric, and geothermal generating projects.
In his hazardous waste practice, Mr. Benedict advises clients on the regulations related to hazardous waste handling, storage, disposal, and hazardous substance remediation activities.
He also represents clients dealing with solid waste regulations, including collection, recycling, disposal and landfill site selection, operations, and closures.
