Jim Wine is a shareholder in the Business, Finance, and Real Estate Department and practices primarily in the areas of real estate, real estate finance, and land use and zoning law. A major portion of Jim’s practice consists of representing life insurance company lenders in connection with their national commercial mortgage loan and real estate investment programs.
Jim serves on the council (or governing board) of the American Bar Association Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section (the “RPTE”). Jim has previously served as Chair of the RPTE Mortgage Lending Committee, Chair of the RPTE Partnerships and Limited Liability Company Committee, and Chair of the RPTE Special Investors and Investment Structure Group (which includes life insurance company investments).
Jim is a member of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers and serves on the Board of Regents of the American College of Mortgage Attorneys. Jim is listed in Chambers Guide to America’s Leading Business Lawyers, The Best Lawyers in America, and Iowa Super Lawyers. Jim is one of two Iowa lawyers to be listed in Who's Who Legal: USA - Real Estate Law.
Jim received an A.B. from Princeton University in 1979, and a J.D. from the University of Iowa, with high distinction, in 1982.
