With nearly 30 years of experience, Mr. Englert provides sound counsel to clients regarding civil litigation. The focus of his practice now is the defense of claims for disability, life insurance, and AD&D benefits arising under ERISA as well as similar non-ERISA claims. He has handled bad faith breach of insurance contract litigation and other non-ERISA insurance coverage litigation. He has taken several bad faith cases to trial. Additionally, Mr. Englert has assisted clients with the matters including director liability, tort, products liability, and lender liability claims, among others.
Mr. Englert has experience in appellate practice, including oral arguments before the Colorado Court of Appeals and the United States Courts of Appeals for the Fifth, Ninth, and Tenth Circuits. He has litigated ERISA claims before the United States District Courts in Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Utah, and Wyoming. He has taken over fifty cases to trial, and has tried cases in Colorado, California, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Wyoming. Mr. Englert has written papers on trial advocacy and insurance coverage issues, and has taught sections of the annual trial advocacy course of the University of Colorado Law School.
