For over 35 years, Ian Mattoch has practiced law in Hawaii. The Law Offices of Ian Mattoch has physical, staffed offices in Honolulu, Hilo, Kona, Waimea, and Lihue. Ian Mattoch has been an active board member and current president of the Brain Injury Association of Hawaii. There have been numerous projects developed and implemented under Ian's particpation on the Board such as the nurse/educator/advocacy program, the Hilo Survivor Support Group, the Caregiver Handbook, and the HeadSmart Conference for teachers. With the help of numerous individuals, the Brain Injury Resource Center's pilot program was an overwhelming success. Ian also serves on the State of Hawaii's Department of Heath's Neurotrauma Advisory Board. Over the years, Ian has sponsored world-renowned experts from NIH researchers to pediatric neuropsychologists from Melbourne, Australia to speak to Hawaii's medical and legal communities.
Ian Mattoch's practice is limited to the area of personal injury law. Ian graduated from Punahou School in 1961, received his BA from Occidental College in 1965, and graduated from Northwestern University School of Law in 1968. Mr. Mattoch is the former editor in chief of the Hawaii Bar Journal. He created and taught the Law and Society course at Punahou School for 22 years. He is listed in Martindale Hubbell with a superior rating from his peers and is included in Martindale Hubbell's Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers. Since 2011, Ian has been named in the Best Lawyers in America and Super Lawyers publications. In 2014 and 2016, Ian was named "Lawyer of the Year" in the area of Medical Malpractice by Best Lawyers, Honolulu Magazine, and U.S. News and World Report. In addition, in 2015, Ian was named "Lawyer of the Year" in the area of Product Liability Litigation by Best Lawyers, Honolulu Magazine, and U.S. News and World Report.
Ian is married to Judy, a marriage of over 40 years. They have four children, seven grandchildren, and a black lab named, "Kayla."
