Genevieve's experience includes developing and implementing global trademark filing strategies; counseling clients on brand creation and protection; and litigating intellectual property and false advertising matters in federal district courts and proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB). She also advises clients on a variety of brand matters including advertising claim review, trademark search and clearance, non-litigation enforcement and domain name matters.
Genevieve has represented a wide range of companies, from startups to large corporations, including a top sunglass brand and a major toy manufacturer. In addition, she has represented a large private equity firm, managing a trademark portfolio of more than 1,000 marks for operating companies throughout the U.S. and abroad.
Prior to joining Barnes & Thornburg, Genevieve was an associate at a prominent national intellectual property boutique firm in Chicago.
Previously, Genevieve was an intern at Puma North America, where she worked closely with the designers and marketing department to advise on trademark, copyright, contract and licensing matters, including those related to the 2012 London Olympics. Genevieve also worked as an intern at Nypro, Inc. in the U.S. and Hong Kong, and at the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development in Geneva, Switzerland, where she worked with the World Intellectual Property Organization.
Genevieve also interned at Neal & McDevitt in the Chicago area and counseled clients on various IP issues, including advising winemakers on trademark and copyright issues uniquely related to the alcohol and beverage industry.
