| For more than 35 years, Daniel F. Church has been representing local, regional, and national companies in civil litigation, both in federal and state courts. He represents defendants in class action suits, as well as in cases involving toxic torts, bad faith, railroad, premises liability, professional liability, product liability and general tort claims. He has tried more than 75 cases before juries, many involving damage claims in excess of one million dollars and has represented clients in civil trials in 15 states.
Mr. Church serves as national counsel for bad faith cases. He obtained a successful jury verdict in one of the few asbestos cases ever tried in the railroad industry. He serves as national counsel in asbestos cases, and he represents clients before appellate courts in Missouri, Kansas, Illinois, various federal courts and the United States Supreme Court. In addition, Mr. Church represents a wide variety of businesses in commercial transactions and general business-related matters. He serves as general counsel for various national associations.
Mr. Church is National Coordinating Counsel for two national transportation companies whom he defends and retains defense counsel in jurisdictions where he is not licensed. He coordinates and directs the defense of these entities and railroads they may be required to indemnify. He has assisted many clients in purchasing and selling business entities, as well as various corporate matters.
Mr. Church speaks on many legal topics, including association law, ethics and values in the workplace, negotiating employment contracts, negotiating severance agreements, bad faith insurance, wrongful death issues, and federal civil procedure. He writes codes of ethics for professional associations and boards of directors and is a member of the American Society of American Executives, the National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel, Professional Liability Defense Federation, DRI and ABOTA.
He is AV-rated by the Martindale-Hubbell Legal Directory. Mr.
Church was selected as one of the "Best Lawyers in America" by his
peers and as a Super Lawyer in the Kansas City area. Was inducted into the American Board of Trial
Advocates January 2019. Prior to entering the legal field, he was a district
sales manager for a Fortune 100 company for four years. Mr. Church is currently on the Board of
Directors for the Professional Liability Defense Federation. He served on the Board of Directors for the
YMCA, and was President and served on the Board of Directors of Villa St.
Francis nursing home. He also served on the Finance Counsel of St. Agnes
Parish. He and his wife have three children and are active in their church. |
