Daniel Higgins is a partner in Dentons' national Health Care practice group, resident in the San Francisco office. He blends a strategic understanding of the US health care system with business acumen and a broad understanding of the legal and regulatory landscape.
Dan's practice focuses on complex M&A, corporate organization and governance, physician integration and financing transactions, combined with health care regulatory and compliance. Clients frequently engage him for strategic consulting, which he integrates with his legal perspective and industry experience. Known for his practical and direct style, Dan also brings creativity and a fresh perspective, along with a client-focused approach.
Dan has extensive experience guiding multi-hospital health systems, health plans, ambulatory and specialty providers and large physician groups through large-scale transactions and corporate reorganization. He has completed significant health care merger, acquisition, affiliation divestiture and reorganization transactions, as well as multiple physician integration initiatives throughout the US. He also has extensive experience with academic medical centers and faith-based health care organizations.
Prior to his legal career, Dan was a staff sergeant in the US Army's elite 173rd Airborne Brigade. In the Vietnam conflict, he led small-unit combat teams in the Central Highlands, earning, among other recognition, the Bronze Star with "V" and three Purple Hearts.
