Cornelius F. Riordan
Mr. Riordan is a member in the Chicago firm of Riordan, McKee & Piper, LLC which, with its predecessor firms, has had a commercial law practice emphasizing construction and surety law since the 1920s. Mr. Riordan's practice emphasizes the representation of contractors, sureties and lenders both litigation and transactional aspects of construction and surety law. He has tried cases to verdict for contractors and sureties as well as representing them in appeals in both state and federal courts. He also has extensive transactional experience, including preparation of construction contracts, construction loan agreements as well as documents in default and termination cases, workouts, financing of principals, asset sales and acquisitions. As part of his construction practice he has participated in mediation and arbitration proceedings. He is a member of the Society of Illinois Construction Attorneys, the American Bar Association's Fidelity and Surety Law Committee and Forum on the Construction Industry, the Defense Research Institute, the National Bond Claims Association the Illinois Road and Transportation Builders Association, where he serves as Chair of the Professional Services Committee. He is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame (B.A), The John Marshall Law School (J.D.), and DePaul University (M.S. Acc.). He also is a Certified Public Accountant in Illinois.
