Christina focuses her practice on school law as well as labor and employment law. Christina represents boards of education in all facets of education law. She provides counsel to boards of education on student discipline, collective bargaining agreements, employee grievances, employee evaluations and discipline issues, the First Amendment, public records requests including Sunshine Law Issues, record retention policies, social media issues, residency and custody disputes and the drafting and implementation of board policies. With a particular emphasis on special education law, Christina counsels boards of education on all aspects of state and federal laws relating to the education of disabled students. Christina routinely provides training for teachers and administrators regarding special education issues. Her representation of boards of education in these matters includes attendance at MFE and IEP meetings, assisting districts with child find and evaluation issues, providing counsel regarding programming for students with disabilities and reviewing draft IEPs for legal compliance. Additionally, Christina represents school districts before the Ohio Department of Education and the United States Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights in matters involving students with disabilities. Christina also represents school districts in due process hearings from the initial hearing through litigation in federal court.In addition to her education law practice, Christina represents private and public sector employers in a variety of labor and employment matters including defense of employment discrimination claims brought under Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act and other claims arising from terminations. Along with representing employers in federal and state courts, Christina also defends employers against complaints of discrimination filed with the EEOC and state civil rights commissions. She also frequently provides training to employers regarding compliance with various discrimination laws.
