Years In Practice

Phone Number (205) 581-0700

Adam started with the firm at its inception in 1990 and became a partner in 1993. One hundred percent of Adam’s practice is devoted to trial work with an emphasis on cases involving toxic torts, product liability and catastrophic injuries. He regularly handles cases in Alabama state and federal courts, as well as other state and federal courts throughout the South. In addition to many cases in Alabama, he has taken cases to defense verdicts in Florida, Mississippi, Tennessee and Texas.

He was one of the lead trial lawyers on an environmental contamination case involving thousands of individual plaintiffs that was the largest and longest-running trial in Alabama history.

Adam is a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers, one of the premier legal associations in America. He is listed in the 2017  and 2018 Alabama edition of Best Lawyers in America for Environmental, Personal Injury and Product Liability and has been listed in the Alabama edition of Super Lawyers for Personal Injury Defense: Products every year since 2008. Adam’s product liability and personal injury experience also has been highlighted in the current edition of Benchmark Litigation and Chambers and Partners. He was recognized as a “Litigation Star” in the 2018 edition of Benchmark Litigation as well as a 2017 “Mid-South Super Lawyer” by Super Lawyers. Adam also has been elected to The Fellows of the American Bar Foundation.

He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Dartmouth College in 1983, where he graduated magna cum laude and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He then received a Patrick Wilson Scholarship to attend Vanderbilt University Law School. While at Vanderbilt, he served as the Symposium Editor of the Vanderbilt Law Review and received his degree in 1986.

Adam became a member of the Alabama Bar in 1986. He is also admitted to the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth and Eleventh Circuits and is admitted to practice before all United States District Courts in Alabama, as well as the United States District Court for the Northern District of Florida.

He also is an active member of the Birmingham Bar Association, the Alabama State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association and the Defense Research Institute.

Before moving to Alabama to practice law, Adam lived all over the country: he was born and raised in Tacoma, Washington; went to junior high in Sarasota, Florida; high school in Spartanburg, South Carolina; college in Hanover, New Hampshire; and law school in Nashville, Tennessee. Today when not practicing law, he enjoys his service on the Board of Magic Moments, an Alabama charity devoted to fulfilling the non-medical request of Alabama children diagnosed with serious illnesses. He is married and has two boys.
